BioThe story behind the name Akima: It's not a very long story and perhaps not that exciting but it began in high school when my friends and I saw Titan A.E. Maybe it wasn't a great movie but, for some reason, my friends all saw me as Akima, that woman character in the movie. For some reason that name stuck and I have been called by that name ever since with my friends. They still call me by my real name but that nickname is always there. It is even on my letter jacket.
